Senior Manager - Sanctions
Location: Frankfurt

Our client is seeking an experienced compliance professional to join their global Legal team, reporting to the Sanctions & AML Director. You'll serve as a trusted internal advisor, ensuring adherence to international Trade Sanctions and AML regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own compliance with Trade Sanctions regimes (U.S., EU, UK, Switzerland) and AML regulations, assessing their impact on business operations.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Sanctions and AML compliance management system.
  • Oversee updates to IT screening tools in line with regulatory developments.
  • Conduct compliance assessments on products, software, transactions, services, and third parties.
  • Apply for export licences from EU authorities (e.g. BAFA) for restricted items destined for sanctioned countries.
  • Negotiate trade controls clauses in third-party contracts.
  • Lead audits, drive corrective actions, and deliver Sanctions and AML policies and training.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years in compliance, legal, or audit, with 4+ years focused on Western Trade Sanctions and AML.
  • Deep knowledge of EU, U.S., and UK sanctions regimes and AML requirements, including licence applications.
  • Experience with Trade Sanctions due diligence and compliance system digitalisation.
  • SAP GTS or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • Degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, or Law; legal qualification advantageous.
  • Pharmaceutical or healthcare sector experience is a plus.
  • Strong cross-functional project leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent English and German required; additional languages a plus.
